Welcome To The Hitchhiker Transformer |
More and more families are turning to bicycles as a form of healthy entertainment for family outings. Also, with the prevalance of quality bicycle hire in popular tourist spots, families are using this mode of transport to discover their holiday destinations and, there’s nothing that excites a child more than the breeze in their hair and the security of mum or dad at the helm of a bicycle forgoing lasting memories of your kids while showing them the importance of exercise.
One quick look at the evolution of technology over the past 10 years leads us to the conclusion that child safety seats for cycles have not evolved, continuing to provide a dangerous solution to a critical need. Let me explain my sentiments to better outline my preoccupations. Our roads and thorough fares are far more congested these days, as we all know. The mere fact of following cycles or worse, cars, imposes an inherent risk of stray stones and chippings being thrown up by the vehicle in front. This fact, when adjoined to the frontally mounted bucket type seats, places a child at unacceptable risks, especially to the eyes. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (R.o.s.p.a.) website clearly outlines these risks but sadly manufacturers apparently turn a blind eye... (No pun intended)
